The Best Iced Coffee in Bangkok, Thailand

The BEST Iced Coffee in Bangkok, Thailand

Nicholas + Jia, September 10, 2023September 10, 2023

Move over Thai iced tea! Iced coffee is what you really want to try next time you’re in Thailand. Luckily for you, we recently found the best iced coffee in Bangkok, Thailand, at a tiny little neighborhood stand outside the Riverside Chapter condo building.

Thai iced coffee is a very strong coffee, traditionally mixed with sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk. Thai iced coffee is very sweet but with the strength of shots of espresso.

Nik and I were dying to get our hands on some authentic Thai iced tea before we began our search for the best street food in Bangkok. This was before we stumbled across the lone coffee stand at the end of our condo’s driveway, and our entire trip (read: life) was changed.

On our first day in Bangkok, we were so jet lagged and honestly felt dead inside. I guess that’s what spending 23 hours in Tokyo without sleeping will do to you. We desperately needed the quickest caffeine fix we could find, and found ourselves at Poonsri’s Coffee Stand just down the street from our apartment.

Poonsri’s Coffee: The Best Iced Coffee in Bangkok

The Best Iced Coffee in Bangkok, Thailand

6 days a week, 12+ hours a day, this coffee stand sells the best street coffee in Bangkok. We’ve seen her work early mornings to late nights. You can always find her at the corner near the Chapter Charoen Nakhon condominiums.

Note: Poonsri takes Mondays off (and it’s heartbreaking)

On our first day in Bangkok, we were only functioning on a few hours of sleep, ‘hello’, and ‘thank you’ in Thai when we met Poonsri. Poonsri is the wonderful barista who runs the single coffee stand. She was the first person who gave us a warm welcome to Thailand and spoke English as well. She welcomed us into her country with open arms and we’ll forever remember her for it.

We’ve been going to this coffee stand every single morning (except Mondays!) while living in Bangkok and she never fails us. It’s truly amazing every time, and the one thing we miss most about Bangkok.

Price of one iced coffee: 25 THB

Every day she serves the best iced coffee in Bangkok and she always does it with a smile.

****Update: We’ve become regulars to the point of her memorizing our order!

Served with a smile

When you are a foreigner in another country, you tend to make judgments based on your first initial interactions. Subconsciously and consciously, everyone does it. Poonsri always serves her coffee with an immense amount of kindness and this has deeply impacted our first trip to Thailand.

Did we just write an entire post about a street coffee stand in the grand city of Bangkok? Yes, yes we did but that just proves to you how much we loved and appreciated Poonsri and her coffee!

Our favorite memories in our nomadic notebook tend to be the ones with people that we unexpectedly meet.
